Trekking trip on Kamchatka
Tour N 11. Trekking trip in Kamchatka: Hot springs & volcanoes of the south of Kamchatka.
The best period of realization this trekking trip from the 1st of July till the 30th of September.Dates of arrivals for this trekking trip in 2008: on July, 16, on August, 9, on September, 5.
This trekking trip is meant for tourists with average physical training: approximately 6 hours a day with a backpack of 10-15kgs.
During the trekking trip you'll the huge caldera and two lakes on Ksudach volcano; Colyguinskoe lake, where you'll possibly observe the salmon moving and spawning, also you'll see how brown bears catch fish. You'll enjoy bathing in the largest hot springs on Kamchatka situated close to Khodutka volcano. You'll visit the active volcanoes of Mutnovsky and Gorely. While flying by helicopter you'll see the overwhelming volcanoes and picturesque views of Kamchatka wild nature.
1st day.Arrival at the airport. Transfer to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky (20km), accommodation at a hotel, rest.
2nd day. Flight by helicopter to the area of Ksudach volcano (1,2 hours). During the flight seeing Viluchinski volcano (2175m), Mutnovski volcano (2323m), Gorely volcano (1829m), Asacha volcano (1910m), Hodutka volcano (2087m). Excursion to the hot springs of Kluchevoye lake. Bathing in wild hot springs. Spending the night in tents.
3rd day. An excursion along the caldera of Ksudach volcano. Seeing pumice sediments and fumaroles. In the ancient crater of Ksudach volcano you may observe the most beautiful lake of Kamchatka with high steep rugged banks – the lake of Shtubel. Watching brown bears and snow rams is possible.
4th day. Trek towards Golyguinskoye lake (15 km). While trekking you’ll see the results of the volcano eruption in 1907, when the surrounding forests were covered with volcanic cinder. Spending the night in the tents.
5th day. Finishing the trek to Golyguinskoye lake (7 km). Accommodation in houses with shower and lavatory, in rooms for 2-4 persons. Rest, strolls. Within favorable period, from July till September, there is a possibility to watch salmon motion and bears from specially equipped secure grounds
6th day. Rest, strolls, Russian baths. Within favorable period, from July till September, there is a possibility to watch salmon motion and bears from specially equipped secure grounds.
7th - 8th - 9th day. Trek to Khodutka volcano (48 km). When approaching the volcano, wonderful view for rugged cones of Khodutka and Priemysh (Adopted Child) volcanoes is opened. The trek takes place alonh the large and wide vally of the Khodutka river, along the birch forest. The trek ends at the large meadow, where a large hot lake is situated. A hot river flows out the lake. Its width is 30 metres.Rest on the bank of the lake. Bathing in the hot lake and river. Spending the night in tents.
10th day. Rest on the Khodutkinskie hot springs. A walk to the foot of Khodutka volcano, if you wish it’s possible to climb up to the top of the volcano.
11th day.Flight by helicopter (1 hour) to Mutnovsky volcano. Setting out the camp. Excursion to the waterfall (90 m) in the canyon Opasny (Dangerous). Spending the night in tents.
12th day.Ascending to the crater of Mutnovski volcano (2323m). Seeing active fumaroles, mud siphons, mountain lake. The crater of Mutnovsky volcano is one of the most striking volcanic phenomenon of Kamchatka. Steep walls surround deep and wide cavity of the crater, with glittering glaciers, splintered clefts and boiling fumaroles products. The ascending lasts 8 hours. Spending the night in tents.
13th day. Excursion to Gorely volcano (1829m), walk along the coulee (hardened lava-stream), slag fields, seeing of 8 craters with lakes in it. The excursion takes 8 hours. Driving back to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky by “off road” car (100km). Accomodation at the hotel (DBL), rest, farewell dinner.
14th day. Visiting the fish market. Shopping. Souvenirs. Departure to the airport.
The cost of the given tour for 1 person is 1960 EURO, At group 8 and more person.
The cost of the trekking trip includes:
1.3 time a meal day during the whole trip.
2.Guide services during the whole trip
3.Cook services during the whole trip.
4.Interpreter services during the whole trip.
5.Base equipment (tents, etc).
6.Transport services (bus, helicopter).
7.Residence at a hotel and at a resort.
8.Visa support and registration.
The cost of the trekking trip does not include:
1.Purchase of alcoholic drinks, cigarettes.
2. Purchasing of souvenirs.
Tourists themselves carry all the equipment and meal (food).If necessary it's possible to use porters' services and satellite phone for an extra fee.
Every participant of the tour should have:
1) a rucksack (60 – 80 litre)
2) a sleeping bag and a tourist rug,
3) trekking boots or rubber boots,
4) additional shoes to change,
5) things for personal hygiene, bathing accessories,
6) warm clothes (waterproof and windeblock jacket),
7) sunglasses,
8) a hat,
9) a small lamp,
10) gloves,
11) sticks for climbing,
12) the first-aid set,
13) anti-mosquito spray.
Tourists themselves carry all the equipment and meal (food).
If necessary it’s possible to use porters’ services and satellite phone for an extra fee.
