Trekking trip on Kamchatka

Tour N 15. Trekking to volcanoes and hot springs of Nalychevo Nature Park


The best period for the trip: from June 15 till September 15.

Dates of arrivals for 2012: 25.06, 04.07, 27.08.

The route is good for tourists of average physical training (trekking about 6 hours a day with a backpack of 10-15kg).

The tour takes place in the valley surrounded by mountain ridges and magnificent volcanoes. During the tour you’ll be able to ascend the following volcanoes: Avachinsky (2741m), Dzenzur (2155m), and Kupol (Cupola) (1674). You’ll visit the Nalychevo River valley with the biggest concentration of hot springs in Kamchatka. You’ll see the natural narzans. Probably you’ll be lucky enough to watch salmon moving to spawning grounds and bears catching fish. Kamchatka tour
1st day.Arrival at the airport, transfer to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky (20km). Accommodation at a hotel (DBL), rest. Strolling about the city.
2nd day.Free day. Optional helicopter tour to the Valley of Geysers, watching Karymsky and Maly Semyachik active volcanoes on the way. In the evening driving to Avachinsky volcano by off-road vehicle (45km). Accommodation at the tourist base camp in cabins for 4 - 10 persons.
3rd day.Ascending Avachinsky volcano (2749m), including the younger volcano cone (6 – 8 hours). From the edge of the volcano crater there is a spectacular view to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Elizovo, the Avacha river valley and Avacha Bay, Vilyuchinsky, Mutnovsky and Gorely volcanoes to the south; massive cone of Koryaksky volcano to the west; the Nalychevo river valley and Zhupanovsky and Dzenzur volcanoes to the north. If it’s difficult to ascend, you can return to the camp. Spending the night in cabins.
4th day.Trekking to the Pravaya Sedlovinskaya (the Right Col) river valley, across Avacha mountain pass (1268m) between Koryaksky & Avachinsky volcanoes. In upper reaches of the Pravaya Sedlovinskaya (the Right Col) river there are some cold springs, camping for the night there. (17km) Kamchatka tour
5th day. Trekking to the Shumnaya (the Noisy) river valley (13km) across the short mountain pass (1203 m high) of Koryaksky volcano range. Descending to the Levaya (Left) Nalychevo river valley. Crossing the river, trekking across the short range and descending to the right tributary of the Shumnaya (Noisy) river, camping for the night (18 km).
6th day. Trekking across cold mineral springs – Aag narzans (13km). From the springs area there is good view to Vershinsky (Top) and Kupol (Cupola) volcanoes. Trekking from the Aag springs to Nalychevo hot springs (13 km). Bathing in hot springs. Spending the night in cabins.
7th day.Rest-day. Bathing in hot springs, picking up berries, sightseeing. Depending on the wish and how the group feels, it’s possible to ascend extinct Kupol (Cupola) Volcano or go to mountain Lake Vershinskoye (Top), or go to Zheltorechenskie (the Yellow river) springs.
8th day.Trekking to Talovskie thermal springs (12km) along the Shaibnaya (the Puck) river valley. After 8km hiking, tourists come to Krayevedcheskie hot springs, situated at the foot of Talovaya mountain. Trekking to Talovskie hot springs, which are on both banks of the Talovaya river. Close to the springs in a small bog there is hot mineral mud. Camping for the night. Bathing in hot springs.
9th day.Ascending Dzenzur active volcano (2155m) along the narrow picturesque cleft of the Zhelob (Gutter) stream, flowing from the caldera of Dzenzur volcano, trekking along the crest of the lava flow up to the fumarole site, which is at the caldera slope. If ascending is difficult you can return to the camp.
10th day.Rest day. Trekking along the Solyony (the Salty) stream, on both banks of which there are thermal water springs and hot mineral mud.
11th day.Returning to Nalychevskie hot springs, visiting Teplorechenskie hot springs on the way (12km). Accommodation in cabins. Kamchatka tour
12th day.Trekking across Pinachevsky mountain pass (1160m) to the Pinachevo river valley(26km). From the pass there is a very nice view of Koryakski, Aag and Arik volcanoes. The route goes through the wonderful birch forest and Alpine meadows on the pass. Camping for the night.
13th day. Trekking down the Pinachevo river valley to Pinachevo village via the birch forest and small ravines. Driving by car from Pinachevo village (55km) to Paratunka resort area. Accommodation at a boarding house, rest, bathing in thermal pool.
14th day.Visiting fish market. Shopping (souvenirs). Transfer to the airport.


The tour cost - 49 000 russian rubles per person in a group.
Extra charge for single room accommodation (and individual tent) -5 000 russian rubles.

The tour cost for individual groups:
group 2-3 persons - 77 000 russian rubles for one person
4-5 persons - 56 000 russian rubles,
6-7 persons - 53 000 russian rubles,
8 and more - 49 000 russian rubles

Included:

1. Full board for the whole tour.
2. Guide services during the whole tour.
3. Interpreter services during the whole tour.
4. Base-camp equipment (tents, etc).
5. Transport services (bus, “off-road” car).
6. Accommodation at a hotel and at a resort.
7. Visa support.

Not included:

1. Purchase of alcoholic drinks, beer, cigarettes.
2. Purchasing of souvenirs.

Tourists themselves carry all the equipment and food.

If necessary it's possible to use porters' services and satellite phone for an extra fee.

Every participant of the tour is requested to have:
1) a rucksack (60 – 100 litre)
2) a sleeping bag and a tourist mat,
3) trekking boots or rubber boots,
4) additional shoes to change,
5) things for personal hygiene, bathing accessories,
6) warm clothes (waterproof and windblock jacket),
7) sunglasses,
8) a hat,
9) a torch,
10) gloves,
11) trekking poles,
12) the first-aid kit,
13) anti-mosquito spray.
